Lincoln Cathedral was built over 1,000 years ago and is a must-see attraction when visiting this famous county. The cathedral was once the tallest building in the world before the skyscrapers took over. You can take a guided tour of the roof or tower with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and beyond.
Once inside the cathedral, head towards the Wren Library. It is often described as the most beautiful room in England and is filled with books dating as far back as the cathedral itself.
Lincoln castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1068 close to the cathedral. The castle is surrounded by huge medieval walls, a third of a mile long, which you can walk along with great views of the city and the West front of the cathedral.
In the grounds, you can see the Victorian and Georgian prisons and underneath the Castle, you can enter the David P J Ross Magna Carta Vault. This is the only place in the world where an original 1215 Magna Carta and 1217 Charter of the Forest can be seen side by side, on permanent loan from Lincoln Cathedral.

If you like the traditional seaside feel then hire out a beach hut on Mablethorpe seafront whilst enjoying the two miles of golden sands. For a lively beach experience, try the beach at Skegness. There are donkey rides, amusement arcades and the action packed Fantasy Island Resort at Ingoldmells with its rollercoasters and children's rides. There are many holiday parks along the beach making easy access to all the entertainment venues, bars and restaurants.
