The local village of Cresswell has limited services although there is a cafe serving snacks and drinks a minutes walk from the park. The best option for shopping is to head to the Metro Centre in Gateshead which takes around 30 minutes by car. Alternatively, Morpeth is just 10 miles away and has supermarkets, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Golden Sands Holiday Park boasts one of the most enviable locations on the North-East shores with some wonderful places to visit on your doorstep. There are also some great leisure activities to take part in from exhilerating walks along the beach dunes to trekking in the countryside. Alnwick Castle

Alnwick Castle is one of Britain's most iconic castles and recently the film location of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

The castle is less than a mile off the A1 between Newcastle and Edinburgh and is an ideal day out for all the family

Farne Islands

This collection of 20 tiny islands sitting between 1 1/2 and 5 miles off the shore are a paradise for nature enthusiasts. Between April and July, it's Puffin season and you can take boat trips from the harbour village of Seahouses.


Golden Sands is around 40 minutes drive from the A1 exiting at the A192 and following the signs for Ashington / Cresswell.
